fernando_torres46Liverpool star Fernando Torres believes Arsenal will be a force to reckon next season along with big spenders Manchester City.

“I’m sure that Manchester United and Chelsea will be our main rivals but you can’t leave Arsenal or Manchester City out of the equation.“

There is absolutely no doubt Arsenal will be title contenders next season. Everyone will have to admit that a fully fit Arsenal side is arguably the best attacking side in the Premier League. The defensive side is better than before now as well as Vermaelen joined and soon a holding midfielder will follow. Then hopefully, with some luck with injuries, a trophy or two should be ours! Even three =P . Good to see Torres knows the game enough to count Arsenal as a good enough side!

Up the Arsenal!

Following is the shortlist for the Golder Ball award for this year’s Confederation Cup:

DEMPSEY, Clint (USA 8)
DONOVAN, Landon (USA 10)
KAKA (Brazil 10)
LUIS FABIANO (Brazil 9)
PARKER, Bernard (South Africa 17)
PIENAAR, Steven (South Africa 10)
ROBINHO (Brazil 11)
TORRES, Fernando (Spain 9)
VILLA, David (Spain 7)
XAVI (Spain 8)

So our wonder boy Fabregas has not made it. And neither has rumored Arsenal target Felipe Melo (and as most might accept he has not impressed too much in this tournament).

As for Fabregas missing out on the shortlist, it’s not like we care! This is a useless tournament. And Fabregas is just 22 (or is he 23? Oops… My bad memory!) whereas most of the players in this list are above 25 or 26. The fact that Fabregas played in Spain’s 1st team is good enough for us. Lets hope it hasn’t been a tiring tournament for the captain so he can be absolutely fresh when Arsenal’s season starts.

KarimBenzemaOLAs expected it has been made public that Arsenal have not contacted Lyon to inquire about Karim Benzema. And surprisingly Manchester United and Real Madrid have also not made any offer yet according to  Lyon director of communications, Olivier Blanc:

“We have not received any official offer for Karim, either from Madrid, Manchester or Arsenal.”

It’s not a surprise really. Benzema will not join Arsenal and there is no question about it. Firstly he is too expensive for Arsenal. Secondly we don’t need a striker and Wenger made that very clear at the start of the summer.

Even though I would love him in an Arsenal shirt but that is just wishful thinking. We would love Messi playing for Arsenal as well so really it’s just wishful thinking. Every fan would love to have a player of Benzema’s quality in the team but you have to think realistically as well.

Ok he is French, ok he could be Adebayor’s replacement but I just don’t think it’s going to happen. NOTW just came up with a new idea for greater sales which has got a lot of fans thinking could he possibly come. Well the answer, in my opinion, is no he won’t.

Maybe a lot of you people may have already checked this video out as it is a few months old but I just found it out today and liked it so here it is for those who haven’t seen it yet. It’s quite hilarious!

Cesc Fabregas and Spain were stunned by USA in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup. In this little interview Fabregas expresses his view of the defeat.

Milan...Adebayor's next?

Milan...Adebayor's next?

AC Milan claim their prime target is Dzeko, but if the bid fails then Adebayor is an alternative.

And as it seems, Wolfsburg have decided not to offload Dzeko. Their new coach Armin Veh said:

“We have decided that Edin Dzeko is staying put. We have a very strong team and it would definitely not be good to allow such an important player as Edin to go. We have made our decision and we are sticking to it.”

So that means Adebayor could be next. AC Milan general manager has already talked with Arsene Wenger about Adebayor. Though the Arsenal manager expressed his reluctancy to put the Togolese striker for sale but we all know Arsene never comes in the way of a player who himself wishes to leave.

So it’s a waiting game now. IF Milan do bid for Adebayor he will leave I am sure. But Milan could instead make a move for Luis Fabiano and if that deal goes through then Arsenal can still have the services of Adebayor for next season.

England U-21s play their Swedish counterparts tonight. Arsenal winger Theo Walcott will surely be a man to watch out for but Swede defender Martin Olsson feels otherwise. According to Olsson there is nothing about Walcott apart from his pace:

He is extremely fast but not as good as everyone says. “Against Finland, he had almost no chances and wasn’t that much of a factor. There’s no Adebayor who can help him. The other players are young too and they also make mistakes.”

I guess he has only seen Walcott in this one match against Finland that’s it. And I don’t get what does he mean there’s no Adebayor to help him :s

A lot of Arsenal legends seem discontented. Now there is another addition to that list, the double-winning captain Frank Mclintock.

McLintock feels that a major reason for Arsenal’s lack of silverware is the lack of money available because of the cost of Emirates Stadium.

“Arsenal have a problem with buying Emirates Stadium and I don’t think the money is there. Maybe the players are starting to recognize that as well. If there is anything positive which comes out of this, which I don’t think there will be, at least they would get around £40m for Fabregas which would allow them to buy other players.

“But you cannot compete with the other top four if you are always bringing through the young players and then having to replace them. You are having to start up again.

“Unless there is a change with regards to the amount of money they spend on players, Arsenal are falling behind other clubs at the moment.

“Buying the new stadium is brilliant but it is making us have to go back quite a bit.”

The legend went on to add that Fabregas considering his future at the club is understandable.

“I have been thinking that this could happen. I was concerned at the lack of money available to Arsene Wenger and started to think if Fabregas would look elsewhere.

“The squad certainly needs to be strengthened and I am not surprised that Fabregas has said that. It’s only natural for a player who hasn’t won the Champions League and is not winning the championship.

“If that’s not coming and there are signs that there is not a lot of money around, then he might start talking to somebody else.

These aren’t any surprising comments from Frank. This is the same man who said Walcott is useless. Then last year he said this is the worst Arsenal side in 12 years.

And Fabregas has said time and again that his future is with Arsenal so what’s the use of saying all this.

chamakh_3213Marouane Chamakh is just one of a long list of players linked with Arsenal so far this summer. But just like most of the other rumors it seems this has also been made-up and has no truth to it.

Bordeaux president has denied that the player has received any offer from any Premier League club.

“Chamakh has not received any offer or enquiry by a big or small Premier League club. The only enquiry has come from a Swiss club.”

So this rumor should be down and dusted now. But I am sure it will stick around thanks to Sun, News of the World etc. until Arsene signs some another new player.

One player that could well be on his way to Arsenal is Carlos Tevez. Ok it seems highly unlikely especially given that the asking price is £25m but Randy Osae has some good points that it might just happen.

Cesc Fabregas has talked about how frustrated he is at the lack of trophies at Arsenal. And sticking with trophies, he won’t win one with Spain this year either. Spain were knocked out of the Confederations Cup by USA in the semi-final. Fabregas had a good first half and wasn’t bad in the second either but the coach was somehow not impressed and decided to take him off in the second half. Soon after the substitution the game was over as USA got their 2nd goal.
