Arshavin set to wear the no.13 shirt at Arsenal

One of longest running and most annoying tranfer sagas has apparently come to an end! Arshavin is now a Gunner! The only thing left is for the Premier League officials to sign the paperwork to make the deal official. All Gooners can now breathe a sigh of relief. According to different sources the Russian has cost £10m or £12m. So it is nearly half the price of £20m that Zenit had initially demanded. To add to that the forward has taken a £20,000 pay cut, came to London on deadline day on his private jet and the trip cost him £25,000 and paid Zenit half of his signing on fee. Just shows how much the guy wanted to join Arsenal (or leave Zenit!). So at £10m or £12m, the playmaker should be a bargain considering how much quality he has.

Zenit St. Petersburg’s manager Dick Advocaat believes Arsenal have made a wonderful bargain deal which will do wonders for them. He said:

“Arsenal don’t realise just how good a player Andrei Arshavin is. He’ll be a sensation in England. He’s worth more than they have paid.”

Every manager knows his player best so if that’s what Advocaat thinks of Arshavin, then we will take his opinion!

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson agrees with Advocaat and says:

“He will fit in to Arsenal perfectly. He’s a good little player, he’s got a great football brain and would slot straight into the pass-and-move way. He might not be what Arsenal need specifically, but they just need players right now. He is a top player.”

After all that happened in January with first the reluctance of Zenit to lower the asking price, then the reluctance of Wenger to even pay the lowered price and then when all seemed to be going right Arshavin’s wage demands seemed to put the deal in scrutiny but all’s well that ends well! We have got the deal and that’s all that matters! May Arshavin forge a successful career at Arsenal and lead Arsenal to new heights; and most of all, win trophies!

Correction: According to Arshavin, he will be wearing the number 23 shirt and not number 13. So never mind the picture!

Gallas - Pledges his immediate future to Arsenal

Gallas - Pledges his immediate future to Arsenal

With rumors linking Arsenal’s ex-captain with a move to AC Milan, the Frenchman has come out and rubbished the rumors. The (big mouthed!) centre half said:

“There is no tension. I play. I give the maximum for the club. I am concentrating on my future, finishing my contract with Arsenal and seeing where I’ll go in two years.”

It’s good news. Arsenal already have a hapless defence, and I can’t imagine Arsenal without Gallas right now unless a good replacement is bought so him staying is wonderful news.

Arshavin - ... no comments!

Arshavin - ... no comments!

Meanwhile *yawn* Dick Advocaat expects Arshavin to be a Gunner soon. The Zenit manager explained:

“Negotiations with Arsenal continue and the chances are very high that Arshavin will soon play in the English Premier League.”

Why can’t anyone say he will soon play for Arsenal!! They all say he will soon play in the Premier League and when they say it, it scares me! Because Manchester City are looking to hijack the move. But still I’m quite optimistic about the move.

Lastly, there have been rumors circulating around since Manchester City bid for Kaka that if the move goes through Milan might turn their attention to van Persie and Adebayor for reinforcements. Seems like a joke to me! Kaka, I bet, won’t go anywhere; at least not to Manchester City so that means Milan wont make a move for the Arsenal stars. I’m not at all worried and same is the case with Wenger.

Arshavin - comments!

Arshavin - comments!

Andrei Arshavin is in the news once again. The speculation linking him with Arsenal is just not ending but lets hope its like Hleb’s case! This time around Zenit’s manager Dick Advocaat has gone on record saying:

“I am aware that Arsenal are interested but I don’t know any more than that. However, I am expecting Arshavin to leave Zenit for another club. He is a top player and he could play for any of the top teams in England. He was voted player of the year by the sportswriters last season – and they know everything! Arshavin played well for us last season but he didn’t play as well as he can. There is still more to come from him and people will see that.”

Also as Arshavin was in London with reports suggesting he had a visit to Arsenal’s training ground, his agent was not present there and he was doing his dirty old job back home. He said:

“For now, there are not any negotiations going on, but I believe in the near future he will be on the move and that next week will bring some news. I am sure that any club would be interested in the services of a quality player like Andrei, but it all depends on the money Zenit are asking for. However, I do not believe that they can get the money they want – the pound is going down and there is all this difficult financial situation which does not help.”

This situation is getting more and more complicated day by day. Especially this mischievous Dennis Lachter just can’t shut his mouth. One day he makes a statement and the other a completely contradictory statement from his previous one. But money certainly remains a major factor. As this endless transfer saga is dragging on and on I am starting to fear Arsene Wenger might in the end not be willing to spend the £20m after all. I, honestly speaking, am losing hope now.

Eboue - Claims interest from Inter

Eboue - Claims interest from Inter

Lets turn attention to some good news now!:P Emmanuel Eboue has claimed Inter Milan are interested in him. Well, lets hope its true and that they are seriously interested in him and Eboue decides to leave! The Arsenal right winger said:

“I have been linked with Inter before, but at the moment I am happy at Arsenal. I am fighting to reach the level I was at in 2006. I have been the victim of many injuries and that is why I have not been consistent enough. But I will fight and prove my worth to the fans. I am happy at the club. Inter are a great club as well, but I don’t know what will happen. Let’s wait and see.”

I like the lets wait and see part! But it would be being over-optimistic to even expect Inter to buy Eboue unless they are looking to improve their Reserves side!

And sorry guys I haven’t been posting for some days. I wasn’t well and still am not but I got a request to write some new posts so I have attempted to do it here!
