Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas suffered a serious head wound late in the first half of Spain vs Azerbaijan. He had to be taken off with a bloody head and it is reported that the Spaniard will require stitches.
It was also feared that he might suffer a concussion but Spain’s coach Vicente Del Bosque denied any chance of that happening in the post match conference.
Fabregas himself later on talked to the media explaining that the substitution was only a precautionary measure:
“It was a scare… a good scare. But the important thing is that it’s nothing more than a minor incident, I was frightened upon seeing the blood pouring down after taking the knock, but after the medics stitched me up, I could have continued playing. But seeing that this was only a friendly, and I was still a little dizzy, we thought we better not push it,”
It is no surprise, with the Confederations Cup very near, that he was not risked as the Catalan is an important member of the Spanish squad.
All of us Arsenal fans wish him a speedy recovery.
