International teammates? Yes. Club teammates in the near future? No
Just because Fabregas mentioned Xabi Alonso as an ideal central midfielder partner for himself, it has given birth to a lot of false speculation.
There was nothing to suggest that Arsenal are making a bid for Alonso. Arsene Wenger doesn’t listen to his players about who he is going to buy does he? I don’t think so. So why would there be an exception.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has now rubbished reports that Alonso might be on his way out saying the Spanish international himself had said a couple of weeks ago he wants to stay:
“The situation is clear, we do not want to sell our best players and that includes Xabi.
“He had a very good season for us and can be an important player in the future. There is no agreement with Real and we want him to be part of our plans going forward.
“Xabi himself told our club magazine only two weeks ago that he was looking forward to his sixth season as a Liverpool player. Why should he want to leave now?
“Xabi’s agent came to see me recently to talk about the future. It was a surprise for me and I pointed out to him there were three years left on Xabi’s contract.
“I asked him if the player was happy in Liverpool and he said yes. It was a short meeting.”
So I would suggest we shouldn’t really hope for him coming to Arsenal because eventually he won’t and we will all be disappointed. It is better not to pay much attention to made up rumours in the tabloids.
These official statements have made the scenario quite clear.

dont want him anyway, decent player, but completely the wrong type.
We need a powerful defensive midfielder who can play 40-50 games a season if need be, not a deep-lying playmaker

Lorik cana (aka the beast) – 75% chance of joining
barry- 50% chance of joining
and this report made alonso a -10% chance of joining…
I would like it if cana nad barry come. The only problem with cana is that he will get atleast 3 suspensions or more in the league…. and th e problem with baryy hes not a Cdm as cana

Surely you can’t want both of them! I mean we have Denilson and Diaby π Wenger wouldn’t waste their talent by buying them both!
But yea I would like to see Cana as well. Hope he is not just a beast but distributes the ball well enough too because that is vital.
Anyway check out the next post! Cana might not be coming afterall!

Denilson playing behind these two would dominate. Could be a potential 4-3-3 system. 2 strikers up front, Arshavin just behind them, with Alonso, Fabregas and Denilson playing in midfield (similar to Chelsea and Barcelona’s set up, except we have Arshavin!)

Are you guys retarded? Xabi would never leave Anfield for ARSE(nal). He would never go to a top 5 team in england cos pool have something called loyalty. You guys must be pretty dumb… π If he goes he goas to Real. And that wont happen 2009-2010 season. Haha… Xabi to ARSEnal… π What a joke.
