If you assume Bendtner was not a part of the match then it really was a perfect performance!!! :p It has been a long time since we last saw Arsenal playing their typical fast free flowing football. It was such a treat watch. The Gunners showed what they had in store for us right from the start as Walcott’s low cross was deflected in by the defender into his own net. It remained 1-0 at half time but the half was brilliant. Chance after chance. The 2nd half wasn’t any different. The chances continued coming. Nasri’s free kick was class, very unlucky not to get the goal. Then right after that Nasri’s volley saved. Bendtner missing a simple one on one after he was sent through by a weighted pass by Denilson. Arshavin scoring a gem of a goal. What a way to open your scoring for a new club. He showed exactly why Arsene Wenger was so desperate to buy him. Amazing! Walcott and Arshavin continued to threaten throughout the match. Walcott looked very dangerous with his pace. One could see how much we missed him all these months. Then Arshavin had another chance. Volley on goal saved but Eboue pounced on the loose ball and got a simple tap in. The goal should do wonders for his confidence. Then Arshavin and Vela combined superbly but could not beat Robinson. Finally Vela’s penetrating run into the box was ended as he was tripped by the defender and Eboue coolly dispatched the resulting penalty. A victory that Arsenal thoroughly deserved. Goals are back at the Emirates!

Lets look the individual performances. Almunia did not have much work to do but when called into action, he did not disappoint. He also made a few crucial punched clearances. Sagna also had a decent performance. Made good agressive runs forward, sent a few testing deliveries into the box and did not let anyone go past him while defending. Toure and Djourou were extremely solid and deserved a clean sheet. Clichy did not make any of his routine mistakes so he was hardly caught out of position did not foul anyone inside the box! He also made surging runs forward and did not attempt to send his hopeless crosses in! Nasri was terrific. His short passing, long passing, movement on and off the ball, everything was perfect. Same for Arshavin. And Walcott kept defenders on their toes throughout the match. His pace is an amazing asset and he showed today how much we missed him! Denilson, after a dissapointing performance in mid-week, came back strongly and his passing was very accurate. Song also passed extremely well and his defending was superb. He did not let the Blackburn midfield past him on most occassions. Move on to Bendtner now. His finishing is hopeless, absolutely hopeless. But I think it’s just down to his poor confidence. He has proven sometimes he can finish quite well but today it was disgusting. But look at his performance apart from his misses it wasn’t bad. His movement was good. He linked up really well with his team-mates with quick one touch passing. But he is played in the team as a forward so he has to finish otherwise be prepared to be sold.

I am sure all those who watched Arsenal’s performance today will fear the Gunners from now on! Right now only Walcott is back from injury and look how they performed! Imagine when Fabregas and Rosicky will be back! Champions League and FA Cup… Here we come!
