There are other partnerships too but they have played very few matches together to be considered.

To start off with, don’t play Silvestre in the centre! In different partnerships that Silvestre has been in, Arsenal have kept just 4 clean sheets from 11 matches and have let in 15 goals in these matches. So Silvestre should not be played unless we are down to bare bones!

Next up is Gallas – Djourou partnership. As you would have seen, they have kept very few clean sheets from a good number of matches. To keep one clean sheet after every three matches just isn’t good enough. They have had quite a few chances but it seems this partnership just doesn’t work well enough.

Toure – Djourou combination has worked very well indeed but it the two have not had enough chances together. Their record looks really good but it is worth noticing the teams they have kept the clean sheets against. Wigan, Bolton and Cardiff. Not good enough. Wigan was without Zaki and Bolton were just defending and so the the Arsenal defence hardly had anything to do. When they are played against better teams, it will show how well their partnership can work.

Without doubt Gallas – Toure partnership has done the best job this season for Arsenal. The duo are the best centre halfs Arsenal has at the moment and their chemistry is quite good. There is a handicap of this combination though as both aren’t the best in the air and we have seen them let in quite some goals from set pieces. That is a problem but they have lately been doing exceptionally well as 5 clean sheets in the last 5 matches they have played together shows. As shown above, their stats are all decent. 0.5 goals conceded every match aint bad at all. A clean sheet every other match is excellent. They are the partnership that is being used lately by Arsene Wenger so hopefully they can mantain the good record that they have this season and help Arsenal in their battle for 4th place, FA Cup and Champions League! Clean sheets are very vital especially in cup competitions so if they keep it up, we might hopefully end the season in an impressive manner!
