French side Bordeaux have lost their main central defender Diawara and a replacement is needed soon. Their manager wants “a central defender left of experience, having experienced the Champions League.” And according to L’Equipe Blanc first was looking for Lokomotiv Moscow defender Marco Basa. But his yearly salary of 2.5m scared him off.
Now they have turned attention to Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre. Silvestre clearly fits the description of the sort of defender needed perfectly and would be an ideal replacement for Diawara. Whether or not Blanc chooses to make an offer, only time will tell. For now lets all hope he does!

100% agree. he is the worst player I have ever seen in an Arsenal shirt …and i have been watching them since 1966. A defender who can’t tackle, run, jump, head a ball and who played for the evil mob!! i always suspected he was still in the pay of the dark lord

this is the best news of the transfer window. he should be sold asap. if they can’t afford him he should be donated as sign of goodwill. get rid of the useless silvestre now

I bet Fergie still has the occasional snigger at being able to palm Silvestre off on us. The sooner we get rid of him (for whatever we can) the better. Perhaps if we paired him with Senderos and put out a little brochure – “A S-S–Sizzling defensive pairing on offer for a nice price!”, it would do the trick.
