Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc has paved the way for Chamakh’s move to Arsenal saying he will not let the Morrocon international to leave for a small club, but if a big club comes in (apparently Arsenal who are a big club have made a move for him) he will not stop Chamakh from leaving:
“I am going to do everything to make sure he does not go to just any club. With him, things are clear. After the season he’s had, if he has to go, it will be to a big club. That’s why I am standing in the way of a departure to Sunderland.
“I am not going to change what I said to him at the start of the year. If an offer comes from a big club, I will not stand in the way. The door is half-open.”
So as Arsene Wenger has already enquired about him, one can guess the move is on the cards now. So Bordeaux’s president’s statement that finalising the move could drag on like a soap opera is a kind of contradiction as the manager is willing to let go easily.
Arsene Wenger is in search of a striker to replace the departed Emmanuel Adebayor and has talked to Bordeaux’s president regarding the possibility of Chamakh joining Arsenal.
Arsenal fans would feel Arsenal need a holding midfielder or even a centre back more than a striker considering the long list of top quality strikers that Arsenal has despite Emmanuel Adebayor’s departure. But Wenger, it seems, thinks otherwise and is looking for a striker.
This is what Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud had to say:
“Wenger has called me.
“He told me he has a list of forwards and Marouane is one of the names on it.
“However, I expect this could be a complex case which could become a soap opera.”
The last sentence makes one fear this could drag down till the deadline. So hopefully Wenger goes for Huntelaar instead because considering Real are desperately looking to offload him, it shouldn’t take that long and hence Wenger can make moves for some holding midfielders.

Viera - Could he be coming back home?
Tottenham Hotspurs boss Harry Redknapp has been trying to earn the wrath of Arsenal fans by attempting to lure Arsenal legend Patrick Viera to Spurs. But since the reported entry of Arsene Wenger into the chase, Viera is most likely to have a reunion with his old boss. And Harry Redknapp feels the same; that if Arsenal are in it then surely Viera would opt for them:
“It’s surprising but I had heard nothing about it,”
“I’m sure he’ll be a good signing for whoever gets him.
“He belonged to Arsenal. He was fantastic there so if an opportunity to go back came along, I’m sure he would take it.”
If the Frenchman does return, Arsenal will again have a player of the “Invincibles”. The last of those remaining at Arsenal, Kolo Toure, left for Manchester City yesterday.
Arsene Wenger is not interested in Brede Hangeland. At least not yet. Gunners have once again been linked with the Fulham centre back as a replacement for the departing Kolo Toure.
But as on most occasions, it is just false speculation. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has outrightly denied any formal contact by Arsenal:
“We read the speculation about Brede, but you only get concerned when a club contacts you.
“I’m not bothered about it. If Arsenal wanted one of our players and could afford to entice him away, like Manchester City are, we would have to deal with that situation.
“But it’s only speculation brought about by people seeing that Arsenal are losing a centre-back and saying ‘if I were the Arsenal manager I’d go for him’.”
There is still time, just over a month to go till the transfer season ends, so Wenger has sufficient time to buy the two or the players needed. Will Hangeland be one of them? Doesn’t seem so anymore.
Reported Arsenal target Klaas Jan Huntelaar has been told he is not a part of Real Madrid’s plans anymore hence his departure seems inevitable now. The question is when and where to? Arsenal are considered front runners for the signature of the Dutch international as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Real Madrid forward has been left out of the pre-season squad and his shirt number has been given to a youngster who is a youth team product of Real. So Huntelaar has clearly been told he is unwanted at the Bernebaeu.
The 25 year old is Arsenal fan’s favourite choice to replace Emmanuel Adebayor and his stats show why. 76 goals from 92 appearances for Ajax, 8 from 20 for Real Madrid and 13 from 23 for Netherlands. One thing is for sure, a new striker is needed at Arsenal. Doesn’t matter if the fans hated Adebayor, the point is he was a 15+ goals a season forward and hence needs to be replaced. Ok Eduardo is back but you cannot be sure injuries won’t come back to ruin Arsenal’s chances again so a new striker is needed. Arsene has the money now. 25m from Adebayor and now 16m from Toure. Add to that the money they already had and surely there’s enough money to buy a world class striker and a holding midfielder.
Arsene Wenger spoke about the possibility of Kolo Toure leaving in an exclusive interview to Arsenal TV Online and suggested something might happen in the next 24 hours:
“We’ll see what’s happening in the next 24 hours … we have many centre-backs, seven centre-backs and I’m in a position where we have to play some in midfield… but of course Kolo is a very good player – we’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours.”
So one can say negotiations are taking place and with the money that Man City have, it’s hard to see Kolo staying now. But still lets hope he doesn’t turn out to be as greedy as Adebayor.
Arsenal continued the goal-scoring form against Szombathelyi cruising to a 5-0 victory. Bendtner made it 4 goals from 2 games for himself and Eduardo made another comback with 2 goals. van Persie added the 5th
Here is another funny video to cheer you guys up in this boring summer. This one’s way better than that of yesterday!

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is yet another guy not pleased with Emmanuel Adebayor’s move to Manchester City. Though the Togolese international has said he left to win trophies (at a mid-table club) but everyone is aware the move was based solely on greed. Sir Alex said:
“He was desperate to get to Chelsea and he was desperate to get to us. You ask why is he going to City and it can only be for one reason.”
Clearly the United boss is annoyed at the riches of Man City which first prised away Tevez from his team and then Adebayor from Arsenal. It is an unfair to make the team better using artificial resources.
Meanwhile Robinho made some very funny comments about how Manchester City will soon be as big as Real Madrid. Though it’s not exactly Arsenal news so it shouldn’t be mentioned here but still it’s too hilarious not to be ignored. And besides City are our “title rivals” now! Amazing! Here is what Robinho had to say:
“I can help Manchester City become as big as Real Madrid. It might sound ambitious but that is the intention of the club.
“We are going to try to be Premier League champions this year. If not, the top four certainly. In five years, Manchester City will be very strong, a big name in European football like Real Madrid and Barcelona. I will be in Manchester for five years to help it happen. Even if it rains, it is not a problem for me.
“This club has an aim to become massive. It is a big project, I have been here at the start and I want to grow with the team. I want to be part of it.
“We have good players already and more will follow. Kaka is one of my best friends and I thought he might join us too. But these type of players will come. Once we are in the Champions League, we will be attractive to any player. The three I would buy are Messi, Gerrard and Deco.”
All I can say is: Sweet dreams Robinho!
The summer is getting quite boring once again. Arsenal are nowhere near to signing anyone according to Wenger and Adebayor is continuing his useless crap talk which no one is interested in. So just for a little entertainment here is a video of Fabregas stepping on Graham Poll:
