Arshavin enjoying at Arsenal...
Arsenal’s January signing Andrei Arshavin is loving it at Arsenal. He has hardly been here for 2 months and he is already feeling at home and says he wants to remain at Arsenal throughout his career.
“At Arsenal I feel at home. I like everything here – the friendly team, a wise and experienced manager, and fantastic fans. I won’t leave the club for any money.
“That we are fourth in the Premier League is an achievement of the whole of the team – not my own. I hope my real successes with Arsenal are still to come.”
What a guy Arshavin is! An instant hit and with his wise comments he is surely a fan favourite. From wanting to play all the time even with a bruised foot with plenty of stitches to commiting to the club saying he wont leave for any money speaks for itself. May he have a career full of trophies at Arsenal!
And the fact that he is enjoying so much already shows the high team spirit. Arsenal is like a tightly-bound family and Arshavin is its new member.
Arshavin is better than the greedy Hleb, Flamini and Diarra, not only has he a better personality and character but he is a much better player too.
Our best defender is out for the season. To replace him though we have our worst defender returning! It is a catastrophe. With the season entering the final and most important phase, we would want all our team fit so to be without Gallas now is a big blow.
Add to that Clichy and Almunia out for three weeks each and that signals some defensive frailty in the coming days. A line-up with Fabianski in goal and Sagna, Toure, Djourou and Gibbs ahead of him isn’t what any Gooner would have wanted at this stage of the season. Sagna and Toure are world class. Djourou is good but he is coming in for Gallas so the difference will be felt. As for Gibbs, considering how young he is he could be weak in defence.
Silvestre is back. No one would be interested in that news though! van Persie and Eduardo ‘could’ be back against Wigan. That could be welcome news but creates a selection problem aswell. But that is a good problem. If I was Wenger I would love to have a selection problem every week! With both van Persie and Eduardo back fit, I would expect Arsenal switching to 4-4-2 with Song or Denilon replaced by either of the returning forwards.
Diaby, Denilson, Song, Fabregas, Nasri, Arshavin, Walcott, Eboue, Adebayor, Eduardo, van Persie, Bendtner. Now to select 6 among these is quite a headache. I can’t figure out the best 4 midfielders and best 2 forwards. But at least it isn’t bad news!
Check out Goonblogger pointing out a very dangerous scenario we could be facing. Without a fully fit defence we could possibly face Manchester United four times, Chelsea twice and Liverpool once.
So good news coupled with bad news but in my view the bad news outweighs the good one. Meanwhile there is a crap tabloid claiming “Bayern Munich are trying to prise Arsene Wenger from Arsenal. Bayern are prepared to offer a £5million-a-year deal with a licence to recruit French and African players in the same manner he has with Arsenal. That will also be backed with the cash to bankroll lucrative contracts and big-name signings.” Useless attention seeking journalism.
